I want to know you!   About me   YogaWorks 200-hr Teacher Training Journey   Turn this blog into....The Music   ...The Movement   ...The Photos of Me   /Blog Roll   /Home Practice Space Photo Project   /Eats

a rough exploration of music, movement, and the soul- everything that I think is beautiful.

So I think it’s time that I finally reveal to you all my biggest long-time yoga-teacher-crush.

This started over a year ago…

I first saw Meghan Currie in a video for lululemon educators (when I was working there) in the lululemon employee website database thing with new product on, practicing her gorgeous backbends and inversions. I was like “Woah… who is this girl?” I can’t remember if she even spoke in the video, I don’t think she did, but I just remember thinking “I need to know who this is.”

Soon after I saw that video, the main public website cover page changed and she was on the front featured in a blog post for her “BHAG” (big hairy audacious goal) with a blog post profiling her as an ambassador for a store in Vancouver and her describing her 1-year, 5-year, 10-year goals. Here’s a link to that page: http://www.lululemon.com/community/blog/yoga-travel-goals/?sli=1

Anyway, this is the only video of her that was on youtube back then, and as soon as I saw this… game over. She was my girl. I could literally watch this video over and over again (I still do when I need inspiration) and not just for the aesthetics… she’s got this something about her that makes me fiercely admire her and look up to her as a person, a yoga teacher, and a free soul. And I don’t even know her and might not ever meet her.

Watch this. Watch this watch this watch this. This is my gift to you all, if you’ve ever seen those gorgeous timelapse videos of Meghan Currie floating around lately, you need to see this one. This is who that girl is.

Things I love about yoga are…the deeper you scratch, the-the deeper it goes.

It empowers people to be their own healer, to work through their own stuff, and to see their own beauty.

Yoga helps people to transform, because it calls for self-observation.

You never stop learning. It’s never- it’s never over.

When you start to inquire about who you are and why you do what you do, and you really inquire honestly…
then the outcome must be transformation,
because as soon as you observe something, it begins to unravel, it begins to change.

Yoga, it’s described as being… some people are like a pile of dry sticks? And, it doesn’t take much to light them up.
