This makes me so sad to think you had an instructor that was talking so much in savasana it bothered you!
Definitely word to the wise- you’re right, there’s a place for silence. Most yoga teachers I know have an uncanny ability in sensing when that time is. In the whole practice before savasana I’m still trying to get that one, and the other way around- too much silence can cause some students to lose focus.
However, in Savasana I’m always leaving 80% of the time to silence. I like to set them up for stillness and greatness, and then fade off. People have different preferences, but I’ll never talk or make any sort of noise (bring them out with my singing bowl/guitar) for any longer than I do now.
